The Leeds areas with the most dangerous drivers

Drivers with 12 or more penalty points on their licence are usually banned but almost 8,600 motorists are still allowed on UK roads, DVLA figures show

A legal loophole in England means drivers could be let off the hook if they convince a magistrate or judge that they would face “exceptional hardship” in the face of a ban. The DVLA publishes its figures by postcode district – the digits that come before the space in a full postcode. However, some postcodes in England cross over council boundaries, so figures may include drivers who live over the border in a neighbouring area. Analysis by the JPIMedia Data unit has revealed there are 243 dangerous drivers with 12 or more points on Leeds’ roads. The worst offender has clocked up a whopping 36 points to their name. Here is a ranking of the postcode districts in Leeds that are home to the most dangerous drivers. Images are for illustrative purposes only.
