Standstill traffic and bus delays in Leeds city centre as police called to concerns for man's safety

There are major traffic delays in Leeds city centre this morning due to a police incident.

West Yorkshire Police were called to a report of a man on the wrong side of the railings on a bridge at Woodhouse Lane at 6.35am.

Officers stopped traffic in the area while they resolved the incident.

The man was brought to safety just after 7am and traffic was released.

The incident has caused residual delays to a number of bus services across Leeds.

Metro West Yorkshire tweeted: "Due to a police incident in central Leeds at Clay Pit Lane, traffic is at a standstill around a very wide area.

"Expect delays to many services across Leeds this morning."
