A cyclist was left lying injured in the road after being knocked down by a hit-and-run driver in Leeds.

He suffered a broken wrist and cuts and bruises after being hit by a silver car – thought to be a Vauxhall Astra or similar – at the junction of Bayswater Road and Roseville Road in Harehills.

The driver then fled the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 4.35pm on May 22.

The car has a number plate which is believed to start with KF06 and there was a reflective yellow jacket on the rear parcel shelf.

PC Martyn Burns, of the eastern area roads policing team, said: “Unfortunately CCTV footage we have gathered from the scene is too far away to clearly determine the make or registration of the vehicle.”

Witnesses should call PC Burns on 101.

This is why traffic in Leeds could be even WORSE on Monday
