Major delays in Kirkstall as van crash closes Leeds Bradford Road

There are major delays building in Kirkstall after a van crashed into a wall on Leeds Bradford Road.

It happened at about 1.45pm near the Kirkstall Bridge junction and has closed the road to all traffic, a police spokesman confirmed.

The van driver, a 45-year-old man, was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The crash caused an oil spill which was still being cleared at 3.39pm and the van is currently being recovered.

There are major delays building in the area due to the crash.

The number 33 bus is diverting via Broad Lane, Broadlea Terrace and Broadlea Hill in both directions.

First Bus has reported severe delays on other bus routes in the Kirkstall Morrisons area.

The 49 and 91 services are delayed by about 20 minutes, which is adding to peak time congestion.
