The HGV truck caught fire between Junction 28 Tingley and J29 Lofthouse at about 4.30am this morning.

Emergency services, including West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, remain at at the scene.

The M62 has been closed eastbound from J28 to J29 since 4.30am.

Highways England said that information from the scene indicates that the closure will be in place for a long time.

Highways England said at 5.40am: "The M62 remains closed J28 Tingley to J29 Lofthouse whilst fire services continue tackling this vehicle fire.

"Diversions are in place. No delays."

Traffic is diverted as follows - From J27 head via the M621 to the M1 Southbound to rejoint he M62 at J29

UPDATE: As of 8.30am the road has been reopened.

Highways England confirmed: "The M62 east is back open and traffic is flowing.

"Access is still available to #M1 north at J29 #Lofthouse via the top deck roundabout.

"The free flow link remains closed at this time for recovery."
