The West Yorkshire Combined Authority is publishing its Connectivity Infrastructure Plan and Mass Transit Vision 2040 today and asking people across the region to have their say

The aim is to be net-zero carbon by 2038 in West Yorkshire if the plans are implemented.

Cllr Kim Groves, Chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority Transport Committee

The councillor described the Mass Transit plans as a “fantastic vision”.

She said it was a really important time for the launch and this was part of the recovery for the economy from the hit of the Covid pandemic.

How much is it likely to cost?

From WYCA: “Mass Transit is likely to have a high cost, but also deliver substantial benefits to West Yorkshire. It is clear it will require additional Government funding to support its delivery and the West Yorkshire devolution deal provides the region with access to the Government’s £4.2bn fund for urban transport and we will be submitting proposals to secure a significant share.”
