Eight-year-old girl ‘miraculously’ survives 50ft fall at Leeds beauty spot

An eight-year-old girl has “miraculously” escaped relatively unscathed after a 50ft fall at a Leeds beauty spot.

The girl plunged from rocks at Otley Chevin shortly before 2pm on Tuesday.

The Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team was called, along with police, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedics.

She was also helped by witnesses.

The search and rescue team carried the girl by stretcher to the land ambulance for treatment.

Writing on Facebook, the team wrote: “However, miraculously, the casualty was relatively unhurt from her fall.”

It is believed she suffered a broken leg but no other serious injuries.
