Delays for motorway commuters after M1 crash

Commuters travelling to work could face delays after a collision on a West Yorkshire motorway this morning (Thursday).

One lane of the M1 between Leeds and Wakefield is currently closed after the collision at around 6am.

Highways England said the crash happened near Junction 39 at Durkar, Wakefield.

And congestion is now building from Junction 39 to Junction 40 near Leeds.

The lane is expected to reopen by 9am.

Triity Leeds - wth a bicycle on its roof to celebrate the Tour de Yorkshire - is symbolic of the resurgence of the West Yorkshire city.
