It remains closed to all vehicles and pedestrians from the A64 to Woodhouse Lane, near to the First Direct Arena.

Leeds City Council's emergency Twitter account says the road will now remain closed until the end of Wednesday.

Due to the closure, X7 buses are having to divert via Inner Ring Road, Westgate then onto The Headrow.

There is heavy traffic on the open section of Clay Pit Lane during Wednesday's rush hour, with the AA reporting queues building back to Barrack Road.
