It happened on Boar Lane at 11.15am today (Monday).

Eyewitness Reece Barker was waiting at another bus stop nearby.

He said he watched an Arriva bus drive into the shelter, causing the glass pane to smash over waiting passengers.

Reece said: "An Arriva bus just drove into the bus shelter on Boar Lane, all the glass had fallen onto waiting passengers. People were on board and at the bus stop.

"Luckily nobody was hurt."

Jennifer Holt, manager of nearby City Gent barbers, heard the smash and came out to clear up the glass.

She said: "I heard a smash as we had the salon door open.

"I went out and saw the bus stop, there was glass smashed all over the pavement.

"People were just walking through it and there's scaffolding nearby so I thought - it can't just be left there, if someone trips up there will be another injury!"

A spokeswoman for Arriva confirmed there had been an incident involving a bus.

No one was injured and there was 'minimal' damage to the bus, but the depot has launched an investigation as standard procedure.
