Trains at Leeds Station cancelled or delayed after train breaks down at Horsforth

There are delays and cancellations to services from Leeds Station after a broken down train blocked the line to Harrogate.

The 5.49pm Northern service from Leeds to York broke down at Horsforth station.

No services were able to run from Leeds towards York via Harrogate for at least an hour, causing major delays.

Some lines have now reopened but disruption is expected until at least 8pm.

A spokesperson for Northern Rail tweeted: "Following a broken down train at Horsforth some lines have now reopened.

"Following a fault on the 5.49pm Leeds to York service at Horsforth, all services from Leeds towards York via Harrogate are now on the move.

"However, trains may still be delayed or amended at short notice as services return to normal."
