Leeds link road closed and bus diversions in place after spillage

Part of a Leeds link road has been closed and bus diversions put in place after a spillage.

The spillage happened on Pontefract Lane at about 3pm.

Leeds Travel Information issued an update which said that the inbound A63 East Leeds Link Road will be closed between Aire Valley Road and Thornes Farm Way.

The AA confirmed the road closure but said: "It is not confirmed what the particular spillage is.

"However, traffic heading into Leeds is now affected from the closure."

First Bus said that Park and Ride services into the city centre will be impacted.

In a statement, the bus provider said: "Update affecting PR2 towards Boar Lane.

"Due to a spillage on Pontefract Lane buses are diverting onto the M1 coming off at Junction 44 and into Leeds via Pontefract Road.

"We are so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience."
