Tickets go on sale for Leeds Festival

The litter and mud may have only just been cleared away from Bramham Park but the countdown to the 2013 Leeds Festival will begin today.

Tickets go on sale this morning for next summer’s Leeds Festival, as well as those for a concert by the city’s own Kaiser Chiefs at the new Leeds Arena.

Fans are expected to waste no time in securing their places at events which experts hope will cement Leeds’s reputation as one of the UK’s entertainment capitals.

Ian De-Whytell, owner of Leeds-based Crash Records, said: “The festival is always hugely popular, of course.

“I also think everyone is really keen to see the arena, as it’s a new Leeds landmark.

“It’s fitting that the band that helped put Leeds back on the musical map will be one of the first to play it.

“From the phone calls and 
e-mails that we’ve been receiving, people are looking forward to making sure they are there for the big night.”

The first acts confirmed to play at the 2013 Leeds Festival were announced yesterday.

Stars heading for Bramham Park, near Wetherby, over next year’s August Bank Holiday weekend will include rockers Deftones, Mercury Prize winners Alt-J and grime collective Boy Better Know.

Kaiser Chiefs, meanwhile, will play Leeds’s new 13,500-capacity arena on September 13.

Other 2013 concerts confirmed at the arena include comedian Micky Flanagan on September 27 and boy band JLS on December 20.
