Thrill-seeking grandad windsurfs across north channel in 100 minutes

A thrill-seeking grandad has become a world record-breaker after WINDSURFING from Northern Ireland to Scotland in 100 minutes.

Belfast dentist Chris Loughridge made the 16-mile across the North Channel from Cushendall to the Mull of Kintyre lighthouse in record time on Sunday - celebrating his arrival on the Scottish coast with a dram of whisky. Chris, 57, who made the trip quicker than a ferry, said he was surprised he completed the journey because the weather was so treacherous he couldn’t see the Scottish coast until he was only 400m away. The dad-of-four, who also has two granddaughters, said: “I couldn’t see Scotland because the weather was so bad.
