A team of walkers took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds to help make a difference to women and girls.

Basis Yorkshire, formerly Genesis Leeds, supports female sex workers and girls who are being sexually exploited, as well as offering a support service for women who are now adults who were sexually exploited as a child.

Basis team members and supporters completed the gruelling challenge in 11 hours 54 minutes - smashing their £1,000 fundraising target to raise £1,075.

Only around 40 per cent of Basis Yorkshire’s funds come from statutory agencies.

For the rest, the charity is reliant on sources such as foundations and fundraising events like the challenge.
