These roads in Leeds will be closed for an Islamic parade this weekend

Four streets in Harehills will be closed to traffic during a religious parade at the weekend.

The Muslim community is holding the event to celebrate the birthday of the prophet Mohammed.

Harehills Lane, Roundhay Road, Bayswater Road and Harehills Road will be closed to traffic on Sunday from 11am until 2pm.

Leeds City Council have helped to arrange the road closures and police will be escorting the parade along the route.

Anyone visiting St James's Hospital is asked to allow extra time for their journey.

The celebrations are part of the festival of Mawlid and take place every year. All are welcome to watch the procession.
