In addition, works to bridges and structures continue through this period at Leeds Bridge and A659 Pool Bank, while work on the City Connect Cycle Superhighway scheme through the city centre is ongoing.

Leeds City Council executive member for regeneration, transport and planning Councillor Richard Lewis said: “With the schools now closed for their summer break, it gives several weeks for these essential maintenance works to be carried out across the city with minimum disruption while the roads are quieter.

“We have worked with the utility companies and other partners to plan these works happening as best we can, so hopefully as much will be done as possible in this period. We appreciate the patience from road users in the areas concerned.”

A spokesperson for the Council added: "There's a need to carry out essential schemes to utilities, roads and bridges across the city and after liaising with the partner organisations concerned, Leeds City Council has ensured the works will be undertaken while traffic flows are lower and with alternative routes available to minimise disruption."
