Thefts from changing rooms during football match at Leeds

POLICE are investigating after mobile phones, cash and jewellery were stolen from changing rooms at a sports club in Leeds on Saturday.

Officers were called to Old Modernians Sports Club on Cookridge Lane, Cookridge, on Saturday afternoon.

Old Modernians Football Club were playing at home against Stanningley Old Boys Football Club in the semi-final of the Yorkhshire Amateur League Shield.

Danny Holmes, Stanningley Old Boys club secretary and chairman, said a number of the club’s players reported items had been stolen when they returned to the changing rooms after the game.

Mr Holmes said: “One of the lads had a wedding ring stolen. A watch was stolen and quite a few mobile phones. Cash was taken and some wallets were taken as well.”

Mr Holmes added: “People are massively upset.”

Mr Holmes said police were called and took details of what was stolen.
