children’s classic The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis’ tale of the magical land of Narnia - will come to life at West Yorkshire Playhouse next week.
The story follows four young wartime evacuees who discover a magical kingdom through the back of a wardrobe. The show will inlude a huge puppet of lion Aslan, who will be taking on the evil White Witch, played by My Parents are Aliens actor Carla Mendonça. Other puppets, which range from small hand-operated mice to larger structures manipulated by seven actors, are under construction by a specialist team.
The Playhouse’s Quarry Theatre is currently undergoing a dramatic transformation into a theatre in the round. The show runs from November 29 to January 27.
