LEEDS ROLLER Dolls’ Whip Its will be battling out to be crowned queens of the north when they host the sixth Great Yorkshire Showdown on Saturday.

The roller derby tournament is a chance for the Dolls’ second team, the Whip Its, to shine.

Teams from Manchester, Newcastle, Harrogate, Durham and Preston will also take part in the competition at Leeds’ Futsal Arena.

Whip Its co-captain Ali Taylor: “It’s our own tournament, so of course we want to win. The current team is largely made up of players who are new to competitive roller derby, and we’ve all been working really hard.”

Doors open at 10.30am.
