Talks in bid to reduce flooding risk along River Wharfe
MPs from constituencies along the River Wharfe will discuss how to reduce the risk of flooding with floods minister Rory Stewart.
Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland will lead the meeting after the River Wharfe rose over two metres- triple its usual height - on Boxing Day in Otley.
The devastating floods left parts of the town and communities along the River Wharfe underwater. The meeting next week will discuss how to better prepare for future rainfall and reduce the risk and impact of flooding. The Lib Dem MP said: “The overflowing of the River Wharfe in December caused significant damage to our region.”
