On January 2, we launched our We Love Our NHS campaign to give some love to the NHS’ vital healthcare workers and unsung heroes.

And, just two weeks after kicking off the call for recognition, our campaign has been backed by health bosses across the region.

Julian Hartley, chief executive of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “It’s fantastic to see our teams recognised in this way and to shine a light on the wonderful work they do.

“Nearly 18,000 staff work across our seven hospitals and each one makes an important contribution to delivering the wide range of services we provide. Every day I hear about individuals who go the extra mile to ensure patients have a positive experience of their care here at the hospitals - the We Love Our NHS campaign is a great way to recognise their contribution.”

Dr Sara Munro, chief executive of Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, the region’s mental health trust, said it was “absolutely right” that hardworking NHS staff are celebrated. The trust has more than 2,500 members of staff, and 150 volunteers, who work across Leeds and York.

Dr Munro said: “It’s absolutely right that we recognise and celebrate the incredible contributions that our staff make to improving the health and lives of hundreds of people every day.

“I take time out at least once a week to visit our front line services and I see this for myself.”

She said staff consistently go “beyond the call of duty” to provide great care and treatment.

Elsewhere, Thea Stein, chief executive of Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, which provides healthcare services in the community, said: “Community teams are woven into the fabric of the NHS and we are proud of the range of care we provide across Leeds.

“Often unseen and unsung heroes, we rise to the challenge providing complex and compassionate care closer to home.”
