Supersonic car powers into Leeds school
A supersonic car that is designed to travel at more than 1,000 mph - faster than the speed of sound - zoomed into a Leeds school yesterday.
Bloodhound SCC visited Gateways School to give pupils the chance to learn about the basic physics, maths, engineering and aerodynamics involved in powering a vehicle built with both car and aircraft technology. It weighs 7.5 tonnes, is 13.4 metres long and has the ability to cover a mile in just 3.6 seconds.
The day was donated by Gateways parent Katie Fishwick of Specialised Covers, a company which makes protective covers for cars and other vehicles and sponsors the Bloodhound project.
