Super day out as vital charity funds are raised

Temple Newsam was full of colourful comicbook characters last Sunday for the Children's Heart Surgery Fund's sponsored Superhero Walk.

Congenital heart patients, their families, supporters and volunteers walked a kilometre around a set course before enjoying face painting, balloon modelling and fun in the sun in the estate’s grounds.

The participating children included young heart patient Danny Hirst, who dressed as a surgeon.

Andy McNally, marketing manager at the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, said the event was a success and that a final total has yet to be totted up.

“We’re very proud of our heart families, volunteers and supporters who turned out in droves to support this year’s Superhero Walk. Funds are still coming in, so a final figure will be announced in due course.”
