Superheroes are flying into Leeds as a series of limited edition artworks go on display.
A collection of signed Marvel comic book covers featuring fan favourites Spiderman, Iron Man, Wolverine and Captain America are swooping into Castle Galleries in the city centre this week.
Each of the limited edition prints are hand signed by superhero legend Stan Lee.
The former chairman of Marvel comics led the expansion of the firm from a small division of a publishing house to a large multimedia corporation during an era known as The Marvel Revolution.
And the classic artwork prints are set to fly off the shelves as comic archive Comichron estimates sales of collectors items have reached a new 20 year high last year.
Ian Weatherby-Blythe, managing director for Washington Green Fine Art and Castle Galleries, said: “With comic book sales increasing year on year, it’s no surprise that there is a growing appetite for our ‘Superheroes’ collection, which has proved our most popular series ever.
“There’s no doubt that Marvel has had a huge impact on popular culture over the last 50 years.
“Now people have a chance to own their own piece of history with six new works penned and inked by some of the greatest artists of the comic book industry published as limited edition pieces.”
The collection is set to see fans flocking to the city centre gallery to catch a glimpse of superheroes including Thor and the X-Men.
When Washington Green published its deluxe ‘Superheroes: Editions of 9’ collection earlier this year it became the company’s fastest selling series to date – some editions sold out in a record five minutes across its nationwide network of galleries.
However the prints come with a super-sized price tag starting from £695.
The exhibition, which starts tomorrow, is expected to last for two weeks.
