The Sunday Joint partners with music college

Music fans will be able to see the city's most promising bands thanks to a new partnership between a live venue and Leeds College of Music.

The Sunday Joint live music night, which runs weekly at the Hifi Club, has joined forces with the college to offer pub-goers free entertainment.

Every Sunday, upcoming bands from the college will perform alongside a variety of headliners.

The first event on September 17 will see Hyde Park Brass top the bill, with support from the college’s Nag Champa seven piece band.

Nag Champa is a jazz-focussed group featuring vocalist Maya Kally, Jasper Cole on saxophone, pianist and organ player Jasper Green, Joe Scott, guitarist and vocalist Toby Clarke, bass guitarist Kieran Halpin and drummer Chris McIntyre.

Hyde Park Brass formed for a university function in summer 2015 and has gone from strength to strength ever since. They have since performed at Deer Shed Festival in North Yorkshire and Kendal Calling 2017, as well as more locally at Leeds University Union, Sela Bar and HiFi.

Future gigs at The Sunday Joint include Portmanteau with support from Ed Allen on September 24, Dr Syntax and Pete Cannon supported by Duhahli on October 1, Paper Tiger with support from Heretic on October 8.
