A UNIVERSITY of Leeds student has been found dead at a hall of residence in the city.

The 20-year-old male’s body was discovered by police at the Leodis Residences building on North West Road in Woodhouse on Friday evening.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said there were not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

The spokesman told the YEP that officers attended the scene after being contacted by Devon and Cornwall Police.

He said the Devon and Cornwall force had received a call indicating some concern for the student’s well-being. A University of Leeds spokeswoman said: “We are very sad to hear of the death of one of our students and our thoughts and condolences go to friends and family in such tragic circumstances.

“We are working to support our staff and students through this difficult time.”

Students and other Leeds residents took to social media to voice their shock at Friday’s events.

One tweeted: “Such a sad night for everyone in Leodis, thoughts going out to the family, friends and flatmates.”
