Stomp to raise cash for charity

The German Oompah band, the Amazing Bavarian Stompers, will spearhead a sponsored walk from Leeds to Liverpool over two days and perform in Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool between August 14 and 16.

The fun begins tomorrow at Leeds Bierkeller where the band has a residency and will take part in a charity performance with all proceeds going to families affected by secondary breast cancer plus two charities, Second Chance and Flat Friends.

Walkers will begin their journey on Monday with a 39 mile stomp from Leeds across the Pennines to the Manchester Bierkeller.

The Stompers will be joined along the way by friends and families of those who are living with secondary breast cancer.

Later the band will perform at the Manchester Bierkeller with all proceeds going to the worthy cause.

Frank Chislett, founder and head Bavarian Stomper from Halifax, said: “All of our lives have been touched by cancer in some way so if we can raise funds and awareness about the work of charities that support people living with secondary breast cancer then our efforts will be very rewarding.”

The last leg of the mission on Tuesday begins with a 36 mile walk from Manchester to the Liverpool Bierkeller Entertainment Complex where a variety night has been planned with another performance by members of the Amazing Bavarian Stompers.

Resident DJ at Liverpool Bierkeller Iain Turner, who is walking the second leg of the expedition, said: “We are doing this to raise awareness of the fact that 36,000 women are currently living with incurable secondary breast cancer in the UK.”
