The Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash 2017, which is backed by the Yorkshire Evening Post, will see 12,000 runners take to the streets of Leeds on November 5 for the fundraiser to support vulnerable older people.

Participants who sign up will be raising funds to help Age UK make a crucial difference.

Now in its 32nd year, the event is popular with fun-runners, celebrities and elite athletes alike and has been hailed one of the best races in the country by Men’s Running and Women’s Running magazines.

Among those taking part will be Nick ‘Peanut’ Baines from city band the Kaiser Chiefs, who said it was a ‘great buzz’ to be coming home to Leeds and running the fast course alongside elite runners.

Age UK is calling on first-time runners as well as experienced runners to sign up.

In addition to the 10k event for adults there is a 2k Junior Dash event for 8 - 14 year olds, which has now sold out. Day entries will not be accepted.

To sign up visit www.ageuk.org.uk/dash. For any inquiries about the event, email [email protected] or call 0800 169 87 87. See the YEP on November 6 for full coverage of the Abbey Dash.
