The city’s MindWell website is now live and comes as the Yorkshire Evening Post kicked off our new #SpeakYourMind campaign this week to combat stigma surrounding mental health.

It will act as a gateway and online portal for anyone living or working in Leeds to get quick and easy access to up-to-date information about mental health for themselves - or anyone who they are concerned about.

The website has been funded by the NHS, and aims to raise the profile of mental health in the city and break down the stigma surrounding seeking help.

Resources have been brought together for the website from health organisations, Leeds City Council and third sector groups – including the Leeds Mind mental health charity, which has been involved with the development stage.

Helen Kemp, chief executive of mental health charity Leeds Mind, said: “We are excited about the launch of MindWell as the go-to place for information for mental health in Leeds.

“People who use our services, our staff and volunteers have been involved in the development of the site and we are looking forward to using the valuable resources it offers.”

To design the MindWell site, a series of engagement events and workshops took place across the city and helped people shape the resource.

Information available on the portal includes details of mental health support and services in Leeds, help for what to do in a crisis or mental health emergency and general information about common issues - like anxiety and stress.

It also includes advice about self-help tools, downloadable resources, videos and animations.

The launch of the vital new resource comes as the YEP is calling on people to help tackle stigma surrounding mental health in Leeds as part of our #SpeakYourMind campaign.

MindWell be updated regularly with new content, for users. It was launched as part of the Leeds Community Foundation’s Leeds Leads: Healthy Minds for a Thriving City event, which took place this week.

The website is now live - and can be accessed online and 24-hours-a-day. Visit www.mindwell-leeds.org.uk for more information about mental health in Leeds and support services available.
