A petition started to support a campaign to affect a change in the law over drink driving in honour of a tragic child killed in a tractor accident has attracted almost 1,000 signatures, including councillors and road safety charity, Brake.
The campaign is led by Harry Whitlam’s family and is asking for a law change, to make drink-driving laws apply to vehicles on private land.
Eleven-year-old Harry died after being hit by a tractor on a working farm in Rothwell.
The driver of the tractor was more than twice over the drink-drive limit, but was not prosecuted.
Now Harry’s family is calling for a law change that would see everyone caught drink-driving, regardless of where, prosecuted.
