HEART FRYING PAN, TESCO, £3.50

Now, buying your other half a frying pan which costs £3.50 might not sound like the best of plans for what is meant to be one of the most romantic days of the year but it could form part of a wider package - at least that’s the thinking from those market-savvy folk at Tesco.

They’re also suggesting finest Bisol Prosecco (£8), or for those who want to go the whole hog, finest Rosé Non-Vintage Champagne (£20), a heart shaped money box (£5), heart shaped toast rack for £3 and boxed rose petals for £1.50, which you could sprinkle over the dining table before serving your heart-shaped omelette.
