Severe delays on A1M in Leeds after lorry smash closes two lanes of motorway

Two lanes are still closed on a motorway in Leeds after a lorry smash this morning (Friday).

The Highways Agency has announced that two lanes are blocked on the A1M northbound at Junction 44 (Garforth) after the collision.

The initial incident happened at about 7am and traffic has been moving very slowly since.

A spokesman said: "UPDATE:2 lanes remain blocked on #A1M N/B within J44 due to a collision, 1 lane moving slowly past scene.

"To join the #A64 (E/B) please exit at J44, fast link is closed. Emergency services at scene, pls take care on approach severe delays.

"At around 7am, Highways England reported that two lanes were blocked on the A1 northbound within junction 44 due to a collision between multiple vehicles. A spokesperson for the agency said: “Emergency services at scene, please take care on approach, delays are building.”
