Quiz Night at Nation of Shopkeepers (Monday)

Free entry and the chance to win cash! Quiz night at Nation of Shopkeepers is a financial no-brainer. Make sure you arrive prompt on Mondays for this 8 pm start because bagging a seat can be tough at one of the most popular bars in town. Of course, weather permitting, you could always to take advantage of their famous beer garden.

Stand Up Comedy at Verve Bar (Tuesday)

Verve Bar on Merrion Street sees free live comedy every Tuesday from 8 pm. This indie venue hosts local stand ups in its subterranean tequila bar, Mariachi. Depending on the act, this compact space can make for a joyously personal or a tantalisingly tense comedic experience.

Jazz Night at LS6 Cafe (Wednesday)

This chilled out cafe on Headingly Lane gets all jazzed up on Wednesday nights. The place can get jumping when some talented musicians take the stage so don’t be surprised if a trombone clocks you on the chin as you boogy your way inside. The extensive menu of lagers and ales should get that chin up anyway.

Cinema Club at Crowd of Favours (Thursday)

The day of this one moves about a bit but usually its a cosy Thursday night movie in this suave wood-furnished pub. Located just behind the corn exchange this candlelit rustic boozer screens cult classic films like The Full Monty absolutely free.

Open Mic at The New Conservatory (Friday)

Just one of the several fantastic open mic nights going on around the city. Fridays at this city centre bar and restaurant are as good as anywhere though. Anything from acapella rap to operatic rock could grace this stage on a given night. More likely though you’ll get some local band leading a good old knees up... Great fun!

Live Music at Duck and Drake (Saturday)

This historic pub in the centre of Leeds hosts free live music almost every night of the week. You’ll often hear the raucous cacophony of a Saturday night gig before you’re anywhere near the door though. Blues and beer run through the veins of this place. Just take a look at the musical ‘wall of fame’ or the array of local ales.

Games at Outlaws Yacht Club (Sunday)

Jenga, Guess Who, Risk. The array of childhood games at this mellow bar will fill you with nostalgic excitement. It turns out they’re even more fun to play while sipping an expertly mixed cocktail as well. Outlaws is stealthily tucked under New York Street near Kirkgate Market but the funky vibes and deep cushiony sofas make it worth finding.
