School unveils memorial to Sikh war hero

North Leeds primary school the Khalsa Science Academy has held its inaugural war memorial ceremony.

The event on Saturday attracted guests including veterans from the Royal British Legion. A statue of Captain Ishar Singh, a soldier in the British Indian Army who was the first Sikh to receive the Victoria Cross, was also unveiled.
