A LEEDS roofing firm’s star quality workmanship has ensured a Pontefract observatory is in full working order ahead of this Friday’s partial solar eclipse.

West Yorkshire Astronomical Society’s (WYAS) 40-year-old Rosse Observatory at Carleton Grange, Pontefract, was in need of urgent renovation work.

Scarcroft–based roofing and property maintenance company Inside Out (Northern) carried out repair work to allow the observatory’s all important hatch to open and close smoothly.

Company owner Mark Taras said: “It was an interesting challenge for our team and I’m pleased we were able to help.”
