More than 2,000 jobs are expected to be created as part of the Axiom retail development, which will also see around 75 retail, restaurant and leisure units built on land next to Junction 32 of the M62.

But Tigers fans will get a first glimpse of the 10,000 all-seater stadium at the public consultation which opens today.

The plans were granted planning permission in 2015 and further detailed planning amendments to the retail element have since been made.

Steve Renshaw, planning director of developers Lateral Property Group, said: “As we work towards a start on site, we have asked an experienced stadium architect to develop the detailed designs for the stadium. In addition, the design for the retail development has improved significantly.

“We are keen to engage with the community to discuss the details of the stadium design and to showcase the latest retail and leisure development.”

The plans will go on display today from 10am to 8.30pm, at Tiger Bar, Wheldon Road and tomorrow from 10am to 8pm, at the Glass Houghton Centre on Leeds Road.

The plans will be available via www.axiomyorkshire.co.uk after the consultation event.
