sPORTS fans look set to get closer to the action at this summer’s Olympic Games.

Millennium Square in Leeds city centre has been confirmed as an official team GB FanZone.

The square will be one of eight zones across the country to soak up the samba spirit with love coverage of the games at selected times.

Team GB Great Beth Tweddle said: “It is great to see the cities backing Team GB ahead of another exciting Olympic Games, and they’d love as many fans as possible to visit.”

Millennium Square is no stranger to sports fans overs the years. It has played host to many sporting opportunities including big screen coverage of the World Cup and the Euros.

The project is a partnership between Team GB and the local authorities and is funded through support from official Team GB partners Aldi, Müller and The National Lottery.
