A supermarket chain is recalling two rice products after it was revealed the batches may have been contaminated by pests.

Netto’s has issued a statement warning that Rice Market Basmati Rice and Rice Market Parboiled Rice have been recalled on a precautionary basis.

The own-brand 1kg packs originate from a packing site in Germany, where the suspect contamination is said to have occurred.

A company statement read: “We are asking all customers who have bought the product not to use them and return them to their nearest story for a full refund.

“No other products are affected by this issue, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
