Retro style back on the catwalk in Leeds

bold designs that inspired a new clothing range by British fashionista Alexa Chung have been given a spin on the catwalk.

Models showcase some of the retro fashion designs from the M&S Company Archive.

Defining looks from several generations were brought to the catwalk, before an audience of students, bloggers and members of the public at the Marks & Spencer Company Archive in Leeds.

Saturday’s ‘Dressed in Time’ vintage fashion show featured fashion items from the 1930s to the present day. All were chosen from the 70,000-piece archive based at Leeds University.

Key pieces from Chung’s new collection for M&S, ‘Archive by Alexa’, featured too - the range having been inspired by retro designs.

Katie Entwistle, M&S archive officer, said: “It’s an exciting opportunity to showcase some of the fashion gems that make up the collection.”
