A sea of purple-clad runners completed a 5km, 10km or 15km course around Roundhay Park raising a total of almost £6,000 on Sunday March 6.

Fundraisers are urged to sign up the Resolution Run in winter to give them motivation to get fit for the year ahead.

Jo Beverley, regional fundraiser at the Stroke Association, said: “We’re extremely grateful to everyone who took part – it was a fantastic turn out and a great day for everyone involved.

“The money raised will fund vital research and support, as well as help to prevent people from having a stroke.”

Around 152,000 strokes are recorded in the UK every year.
