Residents evacuated after fire breaks out at Leeds block of flats

The fire broke out on the balcony of one of the 11th floor flats around 3.45pm.

It was quickly put out by fire crews who raced to the scene.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the fire was small in scale, involving around 10 per cent of the balcony.

She said: "We are just damping down now.

"It was just on the balcony and didn't spread to other properties.

"The fire investigation team is on the way to investigate the cause."
