Man charged over baby's death amid bed manufacturer probe

A man has been charged with gross negligence manslaughter after the death of a baby amid an investigation into a bed manufacturer.

The 37-year-old from Rotherham will appear before York magistrates to face the charge and one of fraud by false representation.

It follows the death in November 2016 of a seven-month-old boy at a house in Melrosegate, York.

A 30-year-old man from Rotherham has also been charged with fraud by false representation.

North Yorkshire Police said: "These charges are in relation to an investigation involving the company known as Playtime Beds Ltd based in Sheffield."

The men will appear at court on January 18.
