The Porsche 918 Spyder is the most expensive car of its kind on sale anywhere in the UK at the moment.
Due to its Weissach package - an optional, high performance upgrade over the ‘standard’ 918 Spyder model - it does 0-60mph in just 2.5 seconds, and comes with a hefty price tag.
Its prescence, at the Porsche Centre Leeds’ showroom, has attracted the attention of Porsche enthusiasts from all over the country.
Owner Stephen Owens, of Birkenshaw, is a semi-retired businessman who now spends most of his time entering rallies across the world in some of his 24 cars - which also include Ferraris and Austin Healeys.
He has owned the Spyder for about 12 months and said: “It’s an absolutely unique car. They’ll never be making this car again. With it being such a classic car, I’ve not wanted to drive it too much - only on special occasions.”
He admitted he was recently approached by car-mad Jay Kay, the lead singer from funk band Jamiroquai, who wanted to swap the car for three of his - but turned him down.
The 67-year-old said: “I’m not a car dealer, I’m an enthusiast. I didn’t want three more cars.”
Vinny McMahon, Porsche sales executive in Leeds, said: “We’ve had four Spyders in here but this is the most expensive one. It’s the piece de resistence of car engineering. It’s just a masterpiece.”
