Prime time TV slot for Great Yorkshire Show

VISITORS TO the Great Yorkshire Show will be able to watch on as the BBC’s The One Show is broadcast live from this year’s event.

For the first time, a full one-hour long episode of the popular prime time programme will be filmed live from the show in Harrogate.

Presenters Matt Baker and Alex Jones will be taking a behind-the-scenes look at the show and trying their hand at traditional rural skills during the agricultural showcase’s second day, on Wednesday, July 15.

The One Show set, complete with sofa, will be recreated on the President’s Lawn overlooking the Main Ring.

Show director Bill Cowling said: “The One Show has a hugely successful formula of combining the fun and quirky with information and insight, which is a similar ethos to our own. On the one hand we showcase the best of British farming and on the other it’s a fun day out for all the family so there is much synergy between us. I’m sure our visitors will relish seeing what lies behind creating a successful TV programme as well as meeting Matt, Alex and the team as they experience the Great Yorkshire Show for themselves.”

The One Show’s editor, Gareth Collett added: “The One Show likes to reflect what people are talking about and doing across the country. The Great Yorkshire Show has always been an important part of the year not only for the people of Yorkshire, but for the farming community as well, so it makes perfect sense for us to seize this opportunity to make our first visit to such a historic and still very relevant event. I also hear the pies are good.”
