Praise for new supported living scheme in Leeds

Cornmill House, a development of 16 apartments on Moresdale Lane in Seacroft, enables people with physical and learning disabilities to live independently in their own homes.

Leeds East MP Richard Burgon and local councillor Graham Hyde were on hand at an official opening ceremony, with the latter unveiling a plaque to mark the occasion.

Mr Burgon said: “I’m delighted to welcome 16 new residents to this important development in our community.

“Judging from the waiting list of people wanting to move in, there’s clearly a need for more of these kind of developments where vulnerable people are given the opportunity to live more independently from their parents or in sheltered accommodation.”

Cornmill House has been developed by the HB Villages supported housing firm, working in partnership with the Inclusion Housing community interest company and the Lifeways support services provider. Calderpeel Architects handled design duties on the project.
