A sign which reads 'power corruption and lies' has been pinned to the Futurist Theatre.

Last month, Scarborough councillors voted to demolish the Scarborough's Futurist Theatre which caused outcry among many residents.

The sign, with the words 'Power corruption and lies', which is also the name of a New Order album released in 1983, appeared this morning, Wednesday February 22.

A total of 22 to 21 councillors voted to demolish the Futurist building, which opened on the South Bay site of the former Arcadia in 1921.

The Futurist will now make way for a new attraction, Flamingo Land Coast, to be built on the site.
