Popular Leeds pub to close

A Leeds bar has announced its sudden closure.

The Pour House, which occupies an historic former granary warehouse in Granary Wharf, will shut on Thursday.

The bar, which models itself on Gin Lane artist William Hogarth's 18th-century campaign to make beer more affordable, made the announcement on its social media accounts.

To honour the artist's work, The Pour House does not sell gin - seen as the 'ruin' of the Georgian poor - on its downstairs bar, and instead has a separate gin bar named after the famous painting.

The bar is offering 50 per cent off all food and drink from 4pm today.

The owners have not yet confirmed why the business is closing.
