A popular bar in Leeds which closed earlier this year due to staff disputes looks set to reopen soon under new management.
The Woods, in Chapel Allerton, temporarily closed in March after some members of staff claimed they had not been paid for their work.
The venue on Stainbeck Lane opened in July 2014 as a bar, restaurant and cinema.
But staff at The Woods walked out en masse following a reported dispute over pay and conditions.
However, The Woods’ official Twitter account said at the time: “All staff that have been made redundant, as a result of our temporary closure, will most definitely be paid in full.
“We are still going to trade The Woods. We understand the frustration but have employed the very best professionals to assist.”
Now a new Facebook page has been made which claims The Woods will re-open as a bar and pizza place.
The page claims: “The Woods re-opens in Chapel Allerton! “Come and visit us for delicious pizzas from a traditional wood fired oven and an extensive range of beer and wine.”
The Woods was granted a licence to recommence business by Leeds City Council last week, and will reopen in the coming weeks, serving pizza and booze seven days a week for the people of Leeds.
The new owner, Richard Todd, said: “I am proud to announce that we will be reopening The Woods in Chapel Allerton this June.”
He added he was now on the hunt for staff to work at the bar. He said: “We are looking to recruit a team of restaurant and bar staff who are happy, lively and humorous and would love to work in a challenging, energetic and exciting environment. We are also looking for talented pizza chefs.”
