The popular bar shocked many Leeds locals when it announced the closure of its Merrion Street site, but luckily it is not gone for long.

It will be re-opening in summer in the former Bem Brasil restaurant which is undergoing a transformation.

It will feature a fixed DJ booth and large cocktail bar.

On the first floor there will be a dining area where foodies can sample the tastes from South East Asia as chefs have created a menu that offers a twist on classic Asian street food. The menu will have dishes like cheeseburger spring rolls and a buttermilk fried chicken katsu curry.

The new location sits right in the heart of the city’s office district so the bar will offer a £7 lunch deal throughout the week and, for the weekend, guests can treat themselves to Soba’s infamous boozy brunches.Gillian Soutar , of the Bar Soba Group, said: “We had an amazing three years on Merrion Street and our Greek Street venue will see us remix Bar Soba Leeds to bring our guests an even better drinking, dining and dancing experience.”
